The Living Eulogy Archive

Over the past three years, students in the Human Rights Practice Program at the University of Arizona have been writing poems for this project. What has emerged is a collection of more than 300 tender and heartbreaking—and often deeply personal—poems and drawings honoring the women in A Eulogy for Jane Doe and beyond. Together with the commissioned visual art and poetry, these works have become an ever-evolving, living collective eulogy—one that changes with each generation of students and artists is now beginning to extend beyond the classroom and curated arts spaces, inviting everyone fighting for change and justice to add their own voices.

The Living Eulogy will serve as an expanding archive of the student work that already exists. At the same time, the Living Eulogy is an open invitation: anyone who encounters the project is welcome to contribute a letter, poem, drawing, or other creative response to one of the women remembered here—or to an unidentified woman/victim of femicide whose story they have encountered elsewhere.
