The Project
The First Exhibition
Phase One: The initial ten illustrations and poems were printed and framed together and shown on exhibition from May through July at Woo! Studios in San Diego, California.
At the opening, visitors were invited into an immersive experience: QR codes led them to recordings of the poets reading excerpts from their work, accompanied by the haunting voices of a Bulgarian women’s choir lament. The exhibition closed with a talk, poetry reading, and audiovisual experience that became an act of remembrance in its own right.
Living Eulogy Archive
The Living Eulogy is an evolving archive of the poems, letters to Jane Doe, and other creative responses that have emerged from the project—beginning with more than 300 works created by University of Arizona students over the past two and a half years. Together with the commissioned visual art and poetry, these works have become an ever-evolving, living collective eulogy—one that changes with each generation of students and artists.
In time, this archive will open beyond the classroom and curated arts spaces, creating a place for others to write, create, and add their own voices to this collective act of remembrance.
